Working Towards Emotional Mastery in Real Time

Challenged to write daily and rewire out loud.

Today marks the first day of my second writing challenge of the year: writing and publishing every day for the entire month.

What have I done?! 😵‍💫

Just kidding. I know exactly what I’ve done.

I said out loud that I am going to show up every day as the person I most want to be. Barring a life-threatening situation, there is no excuse for me NOT to do just that.

And so, here I am. About to bare my soul yet again… but this time with more purpose. With more mastery. If October has a theme, it’s EMOTIONAL MASTERY - discipline as a love language to my future self.

Master yourself, master your life.

Here’s what I’m leaning into this month, the things that actually fuel me in my current state of existence:

  • Living with PMDD… and sharing the survival toolkit I built from scratch.

  • Prepping my family for life outside the system… slower life, building a home apothecary, making simple products, prepping for a small homestead abroad (and so much more!).

  • Modern Life Rewired… sharing chapters from the rough draft that won’t stop tapping my shoulder.

  • Personal stories… when they’re ready to be let out.

This is where the rewiring happens - not in theory, but in practice. Not in hiding, but in telling the truth about what it takes to break free from decades of programming.

I thought I was done…

In one of my most recent posts, I said I wasn’t going to do this. That a daily commitment felt too intrusive to the life that exists beyond my words. I wasn’t wrong. Real life is a major distraction. But I also noticed who was winning when I backed away: everything and everyone but me. My crown slipped… it did not fall. I’m here to straighten it in front of you.

I’ll share the slip as much as the stride because that’s reality. I am not AI. I don’t boot up with the same settings every morning. I don’t arrive carrying yesterday’s message like a script I’m obligated to repeat. I metabolize. I process. I adjust. I move on. And then… when it matters, I return.

This is me returning. Not because conditions got easier, but because I chose the work again. Emotional mastery isn’t pretending you never wobble; it’s recognizing the wobble, resetting the crown, and taking the next right step… I just happen to do it in front of You.

I challenge you to a micro-commitment…

I’m writing daily. Your version can be small and stubborn:

  • 5 deep breaths before the first notification.

  • 10 minutes of movement or stretching.

  • 1 page of “brain dump” writing (no editing, just empty the mind).

  • A glass of water before caffeine.

  • Choosing a fruit instead of the donut.

Pick one. Do it every day with me. Discipline isn’t loud; it’s… consistent.

***(If you picked something, let me know in the comments so we can hold each other accountable.)

I added a paywall, but it’s not for my words…

My writing will stay free. I added a paywall because some of this work needs a deeper container.

  • Downloadables & printouts: PMDD trackers, morning/evening checklists, breathwork cards, grocery/simple apothecary lists.

  • Private chat thread: a quieter room where we can build safety and momentum together.

It’s also a way to support the time and care I pour into this. Keeping the lights on is a creative practice, too.

Why I’m doing this (again)…

Because repetition builds power. Because one day of mastery turns into two, then ten, then a life that fits. Because we forget and then remember and then forget again… and the point is to keep remembering faster.

October is for discipline. For choosing the next right action when no one’s watching. For becoming the woman (or man) who trusts her own word… and keeps it.

I’ll go first. Come with me.

Bring your micro-commitment - one breath, one page, one glass of water. We’ll practice out loud, in real time.
